Lesbian Domestic Violence Intervention

A healthy relationship means both people are respected and safe. In lesbian couples, domestic violence is as common as anywhere else - it is estimated that as many as 46% of lesbian women experience abuse. This may be physical, sexual, emotional, economic, or verbal abuse but it is all the result of one person needing control.

Our program helps women that exhibit controlling or violent behavior have healthier relationships. Our small groups are tailored for the specific needs of lesbians who want to change their behavior or are required by the court to attend a state-certified domestic violence course.

Learn about relationships

Our weekly program helps you learn how to have an intimate relationship. You'll discover the skills you already have and learn how to change your way of thinking about control and respect.

What to expect

We meet weekly in downtown Seattle in a small-group setting. Our program is completely confidential and provides a safe place for you to make the changes you want in your life.

Staff

Marilyn Liepelt received her MSW from the University of Washington. She has extensive experience working with both abusers and survivors. Her unique combination of experience is invaluable in groups because she helps clients ask themselves "What is it like for my partner when I do that?" Marilyn has been active in providing training to community members, including law enforcement and advocates.

I've learned that a relationship can be an equal partnership where both individuals have the right to be happy, to be respected, and to be free.
